Rivals.com – Rivals250 OL Markee Anderson commits to South Carolina

“It just felt most like home and I just love the atmosphere down there,” Anderson said. “It was the family environment with the players and the coaching staff, especially coach Beamer. Every game is sold out and it’s packed every game. It’s just a great feel for me and I love the environment down there.

“Coach Adkins and coach Beamer said they’re going to lose a lot after this year and they’d love to have me on the team,” he said. “They said they could play me anywhere on the offensive line but they might look at me for left tackle.

“One thing that stood out to me was their character,” said Anderson. “I know there is a lot of hype around the program but they’re respectable men too. I also really like how they set up their program, how they do stuff in the weight room, their conditioning, and everything they do. I really look up to all that.”

Anderson has a skill set to play anywhere on the offensive line but he’ll likely end up on the interior at the next level. At 6-foot-3, 300-pounds, Anderson is a tough, strong lineman who uses a strong punch and good lateral quickness to excel as a pass blocker. He does a good job of resetting his hands throughout the play, keeping the defensive lineman in front of him. As a run blocker, Anderson plays with good leverage and can drive his man backwards. He can get to the second level and make key blocks on linebackers, giving the ball carrier big lanes to run through. Anderson is the fourth offensive line commit in South Carolina’s 2023 class, joining Trovon Baugh, Isaiah Jatta, and Jatavius Shivers, who committed to the Gamecocks earlier today.
