Justice Dept. Asks Choose to Block Texas From Imposing Restrictive Abortion Legislation


WASHINGTON — The Justice Division requested a federal decide late Tuesday to challenge an order that might forestall Texas from enacting a legislation that prohibits practically all abortions, ratcheting up a struggle between the Biden administration and the state’s Republican leaders.

The division argued in its submitting that Texas had adopted the legislation, often called Senate Invoice 8, “to stop ladies from exercising their constitutional rights.”

As such, the division requested a federal district decide to challenge a short lived restraining order or a preliminary injunction that might prohibit the legislation’s enforcement.
